Studying at STIE Perbanas
The campus of STIE Perbanas is located at Nginden Semolo 34 – 36 Surabaya. Only ten minutes from the center of Surabaya, the Capital of East Java. It consists of four buildings that are closely related to one another. The Facilities Campus facilities are designed to provide students with the best educational experience so that enable them to be successful professional in business and banking. Classroom – all classrooms are fully equipped with sophisticated teaching equipment and air-conditioned. Seminar room – one large seminar room and one small seminar room are available and expected to be able to support students’ extra-curricular activities and other STIE Perbanas’ activities Library – There are a wide range variety of magazines, news papers, books and academic journals, especially in management and accounting available in Library. This library has an intensive mix of print and electronic resources, including more than 8,000 textbooks and 4,000 on-line journal titles from EBSCO. The library is also supported by an integrated IT system. 1. Management Laboratory. This laboratory consists of four rooms designed to satisfy the unique need each major in Management Department: Capital Market Laboratory, Human Resources Laboratory, Marketing Laboratory and Computerized Management Laboratory. 2. Accounting Laboratory. This laboratory consists of two rooms: Computerized Accounting Laboratory and Manual Accounting Laboratory. There are many accounting software available in the computerized accounting laboratory, such as Systems Applications and Products in Data Processing (SAP), Dac-Easy Accounting and Payroll, MYOB Accounting and Audit Command Language for Windows. 3. Computer Laboratory. This laboratory uses Microsoft Office and Foxpro. The adoption of Microsoft office is based on Microsoft Campus Agreement. In this Laboratory, Foxpro is applied for both bank and non-bank. 4. Bank STIE Perbanas Laboratory. This laboratory prepares graduates to be professionals in banking by giving them comprehensive knowledge and required skills. In this laboratory, students are taught using some modules related to bank operation: customer service, teller, current account, deposit, saving, transfer, clearing, loan and security, credit support, accounting, export- import, sundries, credit card, money market (treasury), account officer and internal audit. Role Play. Students also are equipped with practical skills required in an integrated banking activity, with all activities conducted in Bank STIE Perbanas Laboratory that are designed as a bank in the real world. 5. Language Laboratory. This laboratory is designed to improve students’ proficiency in English, Mandarin and Japanese, both spoken and written. The unique feature of this laboratory is that all materials are developed to improve students’ proficiency in English, Mandarin and Japanese in management, accounting, banking and stock exchange areas.
The Teaching & Assessment Method
Lectures – lectures are presented by academic staff to a large group of students who listen and take note, gaining an overview of subject areas and direction for further discussion Tutorials – these are designed to help students get better understanding regarding quantitative subjects taught during the lectures. In this, they are guided by academic staff or senior students Practical – some teaching sessions may take place in computer or science laboratories. This will enable students to apply concepts learned Company visits – these sessions take students off campus to learn about a topic by visiting business organizations. Assessment may include a range of methods, such as formal end-of-semester examinations, mid-semester examinations, and continuous assessment throughout the semester, written assignments/essays, group assignments, presentation, tests, laboratory-based assignments, papers, oral exam and seminars.
